Transition and Pathways

Dear MCC Community

It has been a busy first 5 weeks here in the Transitions and Pathways Office.

Several students have applied to do the White Card course externally through the Western Riverina Community College here in our neighbourhood. If a student is interested in joining the second class, please see me to collect the paperwork for enrolment. Payments are through the school Compass portal.

TAFE students began their courses at the Griffith and Leeton campuses on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Vocational courses are a great way to start your career of choice while still at school. Did you know that students enrolled in the School Based Traineeship for Nursing will be qualified AINs (Assistants in Nursing) at the end of their Year 12? They will be able to work in hospitals and other health settings. This qualification also opens the door to the Charles Stuart University course in Nursing - amazing! We wish our students every success in attaining this qualification.

University Early Entry schemes will begin in April. Early entry is a way for Year 12 students to secure a place at university before the HSC exams begin.  Please see the university you are interested in as each university has its own dates and conditions. Some early entry offers are conditional on achieving a certain HSC score.

University of Wollongong (UOW) in conjunction with the Griffith branch of the Country Universities Centre (CUC) is hosting an outreach and widening participation program here in Griffith for students who are wanting to go to university, especially to the University of Wollongong. The Year 12 Future Me Program will run over two school terms, between May and August. It is designed to support students with their HSC study skills and to experience student life at UOW. By successfully completing the program, students will be eligible for a guaranteed interview or early entry offer.

Applications close 9th March
