This prayer was read out over the College PA this morning by teacher Fapiola Uoifalelahi. Fapiola is Tongan/Australian.

Today, Friday 25 February, the College held a fundraiser to support the Tongan Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund. My thanks to the students and families who provided food for our stalls, those that donated to our appeal and the staff who organised the day, especially Cultural Liaison Officer, Mrs Sanita Lole and Leader of Faith and Mission Mr Gabriel Abdala, our Pacific Islander students and our wonderful Student CAT Team (Community Action Team). Thank you also to Vaccari’s Bakery, Avanna Polynesia, Mina’s Catering and Mr & Mrs Lole Samoa for providing donations of food for our fundraiser. God Bless…

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

You would no doubt be aware that Covid19 restrictions for schools are being significantly eased from Monday 28 February. A Compass notification went out late this week. It is reprinted in this newsletter.

Next week we see the commencement of the Lenten Season and the College will be holding our Ash Wednesday Mass on March 2nd at 1pm. It is also our 2022 Opening Mass as we ask for the Lord to bless our work for the year. College Chaplain Fr Cyprian will lead our service and due to hall renovations it will be held outside. As it is our first occasion to be together as a community the Swimming Carnival Age Champions and House Shield will be announced after mass.

On Tuesday 22 February our Study Club commenced for the year. It is held after school in the library (Mercy Sisters Resource Centre) and supervised by staff who generously give their time free of charge to help any student requiring assistance. Year Twelve student leaders are rostered on as well to help.

Finally, congratulations to Mercy Sister, Sr Therese Foley RSM on achieving her diamond jubilee (60 years) of religious life. Sr Theresa is often at Marian Catholic College supporting the faith life of our students and staff. There will be a celebratory mass held at Sacred Heart this Sunday at 2.30pm followed by refreshments in the parish hall. All are welcome to share this wonderful occasion with her. Sr Therese Foley will be a special guest at our opening mass next Wednesday.

Peace and Best Wishes
