College Chapel Mass
A special thank you to Ms Zervakos’ Year 9 Religious Education class for hosting this week's Chapel Mass. The Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Joey, who, using the readings from the Second Week of Lent, spoke to those gathered about how sin takes us away from a relationship with God. Our time during the season of Lent is a time to look inward and to work at what we can do to improve our relationship with God.
Year 5 and 6 Bible Liturgy
At St Pius X College, we recognise the importance of being guided by the values found in the Gospels. Along with our touchstones of Justice and Solidarity, Liberating Education and Inclusive Community, as an EREA school we espouse to live by and act out the Spirituality of the Gospels. With the beginning of any new school year, our community welcomes new members who we ask to take with them all that we hold dear and look forward to those new to St Pius X in 2022 to also live by the values that we acknowledge as imperative to our community. It was for this reason that on Tuesday 15 March the Junior School gathered in the parish of O.L.D. so that all students new to the College could be presented with a Bible. Our liturgy was led by Fr Marek of O.L.D. Parish who blessed all present, praying that they take their Bible as a guide for them not only during their years at St Pius X, but beyond. Mr Ure, 6 Gold teacher, presented a heart felt reflection to the boys about how the Bible has guided him since his time as a student at an EREA school in Queensland. We pray that all of our new students take and respect their gift so that it may become a family keep sake in the years ahead.
Project Compassion Lenten Appeal
Our fund raising efforts continue as we move through Lent, with the Edmund Rice Society diligently cooking and cleaning each Tuesday so that we are served pancakes and hash browns. These much needed funds, along with our daily collection in homeroom, will ensure that we can make a considerable donation to CARITAS at the end of the term.
Our funds ensure that sustainable projects are undertaken in developing countries so that others may lead more dignified lives and become liberated from their current circumstances which includes, a lack of education, clean drinking water, sanitation, health care and shelter. Our funds are always gratefully received.

Year 11 Reflection Day #1
This Monday, 21 March, our Year 11 students will have their first Reflection Day for the year. Reflection Days are designed to provide the young men with the opportunity to stop and consider their life’s journey at present. This day will focus upon the idea of leadership here at the College, considering that by Term 4 – the Class of 2023 become the leaders of the College. Students will be challenged to consider how they see their place as leaders at the school and whether they are actually leading themselves at present. Bill James, St. Pius Old Boy, will be a guest presenter on the day to provide relevant input related to leadership beyond school, namely in the business world. He will share some experiences in an effort for the class of 2023 to become effective and authentic leaders in a Catholic school. Be sure to look out for photos in the next edition of Woodchatta.
Year 10 Reflection Day #1
Our Year 10 boys are to be congratulated on the way in which they involved themselves during each of the sessions during last Friday’s Reflection Day. Photo attached of Paul Wade with students wearing jerseys of countries Paul played against.
"The Year 10 Reflection Day on 11 March 2022 was a day of surprises, insight, thought and learning. From the wisdom of Mr Di Sano and his presentation on the Beatitudes, to the stories and valuable life lessons of former Socceroo Captain, Mr Paul Wade and finally Mr Russo’s mindfulness session, Year 10 had an extremely valuable day at Oxford Falls.” Samuel Cummins Yr 10
