Years 5/6

The year 5/6 students have been very busy and working extremely hard. They have also worked well towards our school blitz, Manners. It has been great to see students taking turns, using please and thank you, holding the door for each other and saying good morning.

Students are continuing to be organised and it starts with their diaries. Diaries are expected to be at school each day with daily reading recorded. We had a discussion about if things are busy before or after school, that students can come into the classroom in the morning and do some reading to record in their diaries. This led to looking at the impacts of daily reading on a poster that is in our classroom. It was incredibly motivating!

We sadly farewelled a highly used word in classroom this week too, said. He packed his bags and left our classroom. He left a note for the students saying he was having a holiday because he felt overused and needed a break while they are doing their narrative writing for a few weeks. Students brainstormed lots of other words they can use instead. It has been a fun challenge trying not to use 'said' in our writing or speech.
