Dear Parents and Families,

Picnic Sports

Well, what a fantastic day we had for our Picnic Sports. It was so lovely to see a big crowd there to support our students and cheer them on. We were lucky to get through before the heavier rain came. We also had some kinder children attend which was great. This gives them a taste of what they can expect next year. Mrs Brabham and myself had some special family visitors on the day as well. Congratulations to Trish Hurley and Justin Longcor on winning the parent chuck a chicken event.

All students displayed wonderful sportsmanship and there were constant smiles. Thank you to everyone who helped on the day to set up and pack up.

Congratulations to Glenelg on their win. The scores were very close - Glenelg 249 and Wannon 223. Make sure you have a look at the wonderful photos taken by Miss Thompson.

Thank you to Glenda and Greg Lewis who packed up the dry gazebos over the weekend and put them away after the picnic sports.

Pyjama Day

We had a great day today with our Junior School Council Pyjama Day. We raised $106.00 to go towards purchasing Easter eggs for our Easter raffle. Thank you to the parents for their donations.

Redgum Festival

The Redgum Festival is fast approaching. The Committee would love to see lots of Cavendish PS students supporting the events that are being held. Go to the Redgum Festival page in the newsletter for further information on how to register for events and competitions.

School Council

As of March 7th, the School Council election process is now complete. We have no need for a ballot as we have received the same number of nominations as there are positions available. The nominees are automatically appointed.

We received parent member nominations from Callie Leese, Tim Huf and Marni Luhrs, DET member nominations from Emma Brabham and Stephanie Thompson. We have also been fortunate to have two local people from our Cavendish community - Nikaila Glenn and Paul McLean, joining our School Council as co-opted community members. Congratulations to our newest members of School Council and with existing members Karl Price, Ben Cross and Simon Thomas, this will now complete the 2022 School Council. School Council office bearer positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Minutes Secretary) will also come up for renewal at the next AGM/Council meeting on Wednesday March 16th at 7pm at the school.

On behalf of the school, we would like to thank our out-going School Council President Michael Todd for his long term commitment and contribution to our school. Thank you to Miss Purnell who serves on our Council as well but will be having this year off while on sabbatical leave.

Thank you to all our past and current members of the School Council to their contribution to school governance.

SGSSA Athletics Sports

The students in Year 3-6 are busy practising for the upcoming Athletics Carnival to be held at Pedrina Park on Tuesday 29th March. Families are to arrange transport into Pedrina Park for their children. We will be sending home more information closer to the event with event and arrival times as soon as they are finalised by the committee. Our school is in charge of running the Long Jump event on the day and if you are able to help for some of the morning please contact Mrs Brabham.

Parent Teacher Interviews

On Wednesday 23rd March, we will be holding parent/teacher interviews after school. Please complete the separate form sent home today with your request for times. We will do our best to accommodate everyone as close to their requested time as possible.

Rapid Antigen Testing Survey

Our school has been chosen to take part in a survey to gather feedback on the rapid antigen testing program in schools.
