Principal's Report

Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

Whole School Assembly

Due to the 3-6 House Athletics Day on Friday 18th March, it has been necessary to move the next whole school assembly to Thursday 17th March.

We would like to invite families to join us onsite for the whole school assembly at 2.45 pm. One of the key activities taking place during this time will be the presentation of the leadership badges to school captains, house captains,  ambassadors and Junior School Council representatives.

As this is the first whole school event that has been open to families for some time, there are some logistics that we need to fine tune before going forward.  Final details regarding the requirements for attendance will be shared in a Compass message early next week.

Updating the HPS School Website

During Term 1, the school will begin the process of updating the HPS school website. During the coming weeks families will be provided the opportunity to provide feedback on the school's communication processes, which will include the website.

On Thursday 17th March, the school will engage with a professional photographer onsite to update the photo stock for the website and other promotional material.  Families will have signed a consent form for recording and publishing of your child's image, as part of the permission notices sent home to families at the beginning of the school year.

Further updates will be provided as the project develops.

Year 3-6 House Athletics - Friday 18th March.

As part of our school sports program at HPS, each year we hold a house athletics carnival at Willinda Park in Greensborough. As we transition through changes in Covid restrictions and management the school has needed to adjust the program for 2022.

On Friday 18th March, the students from Year 3-6 will participate in a number of athletics events, as they represent their houses.  They will also be competing for representative places in the district trials held on Friday 1st April.  Our Sports/PE teacher, Ethan Griffiths, will have further communication for parents regarding support needed and requirements for attendance to spectate on the day.

Students in Foundation - Year 2 will have the opportunity to participate in a house sports event later in the school year, which will also provide the chance for families to support and spectate.  Further updates on this event will be shared once finalised.

Junior School Council (JSC)

In addition to the leadership roles within Year 6, our school will also provided the opportunity for students from other year groups to take on positions of responsibility. One of the ways this will happen is through the Junior School Council (JSC).  The JSC representatives for 2022 are:

  • Year 3 - Rm 15: Archie Downes and Ruby Devine
  • Year 3 - Rm 16: Lewis Hendry and Annika Seth
  • Year 3 - Rm 25: Emily Li and Bailey Lim
  • Year 3 - Rm 26: Nikolas Wilisoni and Luke Forster
  • Year 4 - Rm 23: Yamma Mobinzai and William Ceddia
  • Year 4 - Rm 24: Mikayla Purmawinata and Aoife McGriskin
  • Year 4 - Rm 19: Sophie Vivian and April Stent
  • Year 5 - Rm 20: Evangelynn Lane and Josh Goodman
  • Year 5 - Rm 21: Miles Pountney and Gwen Fray
  • Year 5 - Rm 22: Noah Manzie and Tim Zigomanis
  • Year 6 : Olivia Lord, Lana Donoghue and Lizzie Reith

2023 Foundation Tours

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Year 6 group from Rm 2 for their support in guiding our first school tours around HPS yesterday.  The were all wonderful representatives for the school.

The remaining tour dates for Term 1 are as follows:

  • Tuesday 22nd March (9.30-10.30) - lead by Year 6 (Rm1)
  • Saturday 2nd April (9.30-10.30) - run by school leadership team

Curriculum Day - Term 2 (date change)

Please also note that there has been a small change in the date of the Term 2 Curriculum Day.  The day was previously communicated to take place on Friday 10th June, however a clash with school camps has required a move to  Tuesday 14th June.  This is still attached to the Queen's Birthday long weekend for those families who are able to make use of this time. My apologies for any inconvenience caused by this necessary change.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards
