House Update
Blackwood
Hey everyone, Milo here. I just wanna say that I’m super proud of our achievements in swimming, we’re starting to get a winning streak going! Obviously a massive thank you to everyone who cheered from the stands, dressed up in house colours, and especially the athletes that participated in the actual events. Every point counted towards our victory and everyone in the leadership team is really happy with the spirit of the house.
Hello! It’s Kaitlyn, the new Blackwood house captain! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to this year’s swimming carnival (my costume will have to wait for another day), but could still share the spirit brought by such a treasurous event. I saw videos of the Blackwood chant, photos of creative costumes and of course, the monumental moment of the houses’ third win in a row. In the twinkling of an eye, athletics day approached at full speed and I experienced its dynamic atmosphere as not just a participant, but a house leader. It was overwhelming in the sense that there was a side to our house in which I had never seen before - I saw Blackwood’s pride, competitiveness and passion in its purest form. Although we didn’t manage first place in the end, I believe that the abundant house spirit on that day proved that Blackwood doesn’t need a trophy to be number one. As such, I have to warn the other houses that with chorals creeping up on us, Blackwood is more than eager to claim another W.

Cottrell
Hey Cottrell!
The first term of the year has concluded, and what an exciting time it has been! First off, on behalf of the Cottrell house, we would like to commend and congratulate the efforts of our house! Undoubtedly, we have had the best house spirit this term, and that's truly the winning quality in our eyes.
A new instalment we’ve had this term is our house chant! Commandments to our very own Chorals Captain, Bhargav, Cottrell’s new chant has definitely granted us that house spirit.
On to athletics, although we came fourth in total points, we were first for House Spirit and the continuous relay! This is truly a measure of how committed we are to the house, and we could not be prouder. Ksenia, in year 10, also claimed House Champion for her cohort!
Congratulations to the Year 12 boys for coming first in VCE basketball. We are all very proud of you for winning those house points! VCE soccer and volleyball are on the schedule, so don't forget to sign up and participate.
Cottrell is yet to truly show its strength with the upcoming events of Active April and Cross country. You can sign up for Active April by visiting Cottrell's Instagram page and following the instructions shown in our highlights. Chorals are also around the corner with our house song being Wavin’ Flag. Make sure to practice so we can give it our all at Chorals this year!
Finally, a warm welcome to our new year 9 SRC, Chinwe O (C9).
Forever Rising,
Your Cottrell Vice Captains,
Andrea Rose T (C8) & Lilliana C (C5).
Kororoit
What a busy yet productive start to the year it has been for Kororoit. Everyone was glad to be together back on site for term 1. Being able to see each other again meant that there was an exciting vibe around the for swimming in week 1!
All our hard training over the summer and time spent making costumes was well spent as we saw the participation rate across the House hit an all time high. Everyone was able to get involved either in the pool or in the stands and while the results may not have gone the way we wanted, the level of enthusiasm is something we really wanted to carry through the term.
Carry through the enthusiasm we did. The Athletics carnival rolled around far quicker than we realised, even though it was almost half-way through term. Another huge effort from all the Kororoit team, students’, and staff to come home on top. The Year 12’s had great weather for their final lap which is always a highlight of the day. Well done to all those who worked so hard leading up to and on the day to make it one to remember.
Through the whole term, our different teams and groups within the House have been hard at work on many other events from Soirees to Bake sales and debating. While there are too many people to mention everyone individually, I’d like to give a shout out to all the Kororoit Dragons who have really lived up to our school values by contributing and aspiring to make the vibe and culture around SCHS a little bit better every day.
As we cast our minds forwards to Term 2, take the holidays as an opportunity to rest and recover. Then, we’ll see you all back ready and rearing to go for Chorals and all the other House events still to come.
Ms Green and the team.
Rothwell
Term 1 is coming to an end! For Rothwell, it's been a term of homecoming. The house leadership team feared that it would be difficult to develop house spirit in younger year levels because of the two-year gap in school activities. However, we have since been proven wrong! Our house is more than willing to take initiative, put their all into house events and not only participate, but also strive to win. We've been so proud to see younger year levels giving their all to the house. We came second at the Sports AND Swimming carnivals, and won the House Chant award at the pool. We are excited for the rest of the year ahead, and value each and every one of our Rothwellians. Your contributions have not gone unnoticed.
We're currently in the lead with house points - and we have every intention to keep it that way!
Chorals is coming up soon, and Rothwell is ready to roll!
LETS GO ROTHWELL!! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!
