Fish Trap Rock Art opening

This week we celebrated the Fish Trap Rock Art that has been installed in our school. The work was inspired by the stories of Menang elders. The Year Sevens of 2021 created drawings that were then composed by artist Kati Thamo into these wonderful artworks. There are kangaroos, possums, honeybees, snakes, and people fishing using the traps. The rocks pay homage to this 7,000-year-old site.

In other exciting news, renowned Artist James Giddy will be at school this week to begin a design for a painting of the osprey that we see fishing in Oyster Harbour. The painting will go behind the rocks on the Tamungup Building.

Music

In Week Nine this term, a group of Great Southern Grammar VET Music students will be heading to Perth to collaborate with Guilford Grammar music students to put on an exciting show at the famous Mojo’s Music Venue in Fremantle.

GSG VET Music students are certainly getting lots of gigs these days. Here is a photo of current and past VET Music students in the band ‘St Marg’ playing original music at The White Star last Saturday night.
