The Principal's Pen
I seem to be using the word "excited" a lot this year. The staff have been excited about the new year and the families that have joined our College community. The students have been excited about the innovative programs that have been added to our weekly schedule. The Year 10 students and parents who attended our Year 11 information session are excited about what the College is offering for subjects and opportunities next year. So, with such a great start to the year, there is lots to be excited about.
One of the points we've been focusing on for the start of the year is the uniform and presentation standards of our students. Thank you to everyone who has supported the efforts of our Heads of School as they have been working with our students on this. It has made a significant difference to our school already.
Finally, just a note about my word for this year - "free". The idea that I will be discussing with our students and through our newsletters is that our freedom costs. Any time we experience freedom it's because it has cost someone - sometimes it costs us, and sometimes it costs someone else. There are lots of important themes that link to Easter and ANZAC Day which we'll explore later this term, but the verse that is a good place to start is Galatians 5:13-14
"For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
