Dear Marian Catholic College Community,

This week on Ash Wednesday, Marian Catholic College, participated in the first whole school Mass for 2023 celebrated by Father Cyprian in the Marcellin Hall. Father Cyprian spoke of the importance of entering the period of Lent, as a period of reflection and a time for internal conversations with oneself and with God.

We are also reminded in the daily readings for the first Friday after Ash Wednesday that what makes us “whole and sound in God’s eyes is when we offer ourselves sincerely to God’s purposes”. When we see beyond ourselves to “the suffering in the world” seeking to make a “lasting difference” to help and support others. We ask God to help us to be our best selves as we listen with open hearts, hands and minds to learn what it is we need to do to allow this process to happen.

Outside of these additional educational, faith and community activities, learning and teaching continues for our students through the wonderful work of the teachers, leaders and support staff in the school. We come to the end of our fourth week of school and enter into Lent, grateful and thankful for the blessings of belonging to this community of faith, learning, excellence and care.
