International Students

Decorating the library for the Lantern Festival

Welcome to our new international students

It has been a busy first week of school in the International Students' Office! This year we are excited to have 76 International Students attending Northcote High School from many different countries: Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, Germany, Indonesia, France, United Arab Emirates and Thailand. We have been working hard to help our new students and their families. Hopefully everyone can help our new students as well, if they get lost finding their classrooms or adapting into new environment. It is not just the language that is new, international students also need to learn new lifestyles, rules and emotional issues, being far away from home for the first time.

We also welcome new homestays that can join us to accommodate the future students and would like to extend our sincere thanks to existing homestays that have been working with us so far and providing a safe second home in Australia for the students.

It is great to see that students are settling in well, making new friends with other international students and local students. Our existing students are also very eager to start the new school year and happy to see new faces.

The NHS International Student leadership team in 2023 consists of 3 members: Linh VUONG, Quan NGUYEN and Khoi NGUYEN.  It is a very dynamic team that has lots of new ideas, very enthusiastic in helping and mentoring new students. We cannot wait to support them so they can improve their leadership skills while implementing their ideas into actions.

Last week, more than 10 students have help Ms Danielle Ritchie in the library to put up displays for the Lantern Festival. It is such a great opportunity for them to engage in schools activities and they were very happy and enjoyed.

The International Students Office and our new students are looking forward to a great year ahead and are proud to be a part of Northcote High School community.
