Our outstanding senior results continue
Our Senior students have again achieved outstanding results in their VCE and VCAL studies. Congratulations and thank you to our incredible students, our dedicated teachers and our families. It is a learning partnership with our families that has achieved outstanding results.
VCE Results:
Some highlights of our students’ achievements:
- 52 Students (21%) achieved an ATAR of 90 or over - in the top 10% of Australia
- 113 students (46%) achieved and ATAR of 80 or over – in the top 20% of Australia
- Median ATAR of 76.65
- A perfect study score of 50 in both Media and Further Mathematics
- 102 study scores over 40, which is 8% of all study scores
- Mean study score is 31.2
- Median study score is 31
VCAL Results:
16 Students of 20 achieved Satisfactory Completion in line with the statewide average of completion.The pathways for these students will be varied and include a combination of apprenticeships, traineeships, tertiary studies and other employment.
Celebrating our Dux of 2022
Congratulations to Zara Baglioni who was our 2022 Dux with an outstanding ATAR of 99.15. We asked Zara about his plans for 2023 and tips for our current students.
What are you planning to study?
My plan is to study a Bachelor of Science at Melbourne and then do my masters in engineering, probably robotic or mechatronic.
Have you been at Northcote High School since year 7?
Yes, I've been at NHS since year 7
What extracurricular activities have you been involved in during your time at NHS?
I've been involved in mainly debating and public speaking events since year 7 as well as the 2018 and 2019 productions.
What was the most challenging about completing Yr12 after a year of COVID and lockdowns?
This year it was challenging to stay motivated particularly after two years of lockdowns and having periods of time in which many teachers and peers were isolating due to COVID.
What has been most rewarding about this year
The most rewarding thing about this year was reaching the end more or less alive and seeing all my friends get the ATARs they needed knowing that everyone's hard work paid off.
What was you favourite subject?
My favourite subject this year was Specialist Maths, I found the content interesting and the people in the class were heaps of fun.
Most memorable moment this year?
The most memorable moment was probably our Year 12 formal. Seeing the entire year level in one room in a completely different environment to school was really cool.
Do you have any words of advice for other students in the future?
I think the biggest piece of advice and something that was very important to me this year was making sure to not completely sacrifice my social life in favour of schoolwork and having a good balance. I find if you don't take care of your needs outside of school you won't be in the best position to do as well as possible.
