Neil, his mother and sister moved to Hobart in 1955, where he attended St Virgil’s College.
Neil’s first job was with the Repatriation Department of V.A. in Hobart then Sydney.
Whilst in Hobart he learned to fly light aircraft.
With his keen interest with Aviation, he obtained a position with Qantas in Sydney, where he remained for 28 years. He worked initially in Reservations, then in Recruitment, and eventually became Human Resources Manager. Before retirement, Neil taught travel at Blacktown TAFE.
Neil returned to Tasmanian and joined the Evandale History Society. He discovered No 7 Elementary Flying Training School had been based at Launceston Airport during WW11. He undertook researching No 7 EFTS and upon completion a Memorial was erected at Evandale.
Neil became a founding member in 2019 of Tasmanian Aviation Historical Society. Their first acquisition was Miss Flinders which now hangs in Launceston Airport.
Neil succumbed to his illnesses after fighting for many years with a positive attitude, courage and grace.
