Current Student Achievements over the Summer

Australian Champion

The 44th Australian Sabre Championships were held early January in Hobart on the River Derwent.

 

Forty-six sailors, many from the mainland States, along with a strong contingent of local sailors, contested the 10 races over the four days of the Championships. 

 

SVC Year 11 student, James Pinelli, was winner of the National Youth division of the Championships. He is now the 7th Tasmanian to be crowned the National Junior Champion in the Sabre class.

National Honours in Futsal

Year 9 student Henry Reason recently competed in the National Futsal Championships in Sydney representing Tasmania and earnt himself a place in the Allstar National Team. Well done Henry and another sVc lad, Luke Morrisby, as their U14 team finished in 2nd place.

 

Two other SVC boys,  Jacob Clothier and Mal Smith, represented Tasmaina in the U16 team which made it through to the semi-finals. making the Semi Finals.

Tassie Basketball Reps

Ten members of  Team SVC represented Basketball Tasmania at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury Wodonga.

Water Polo Respresentation

Four of our SVC boys have represented Tasmania in Perth at the U/16 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

Records Set

Year 10 student Ben Korotki has added another Tasmanian record to his resume, this time breaking the U15 100m record.

 

Ben ran an impressive 11.20 to comfortably win the U16 event at the Tasmanian Track & Field Championships, lowering the previous record of 11.32 set by Jack Lewis in 2017.

 

Ben also holds the Tasmanian U14 400m record.

 

In the SSATIS Carnival towards the end of 2022, he established a new record in Boys U15 400m with a run of  52.18 sec.
