Surf's Up

The Mercury included the picture above by way of promoting the inaugural Red Herring Surf Pro conducted in Tasmania. The photo (taken by Chris Kidd) are Kelly Nordstrom and Dara Penfold. Kelly attended St Virgil’s from 2010-2013 – the 25 year old has been surfing since he was a toddler and claimed in the associated article by Jarrod Lawler that such an event will have a positive ‘snowball effect’ on the sport. The picture on the left by Andrew Chisholm shows Kelly at play in a big wave.

With Kelly is former world junior surfing champion Dara Penfold. Dara is the sister of Troy Penfold who attended the College from 1990-1994 and is now an electrical contractor in Queensland.
