For the first weekend of the term we had good numbers stay in. Friday night saw some late night shopping at Eaton Fair for those who wanted to participate.

Saturday morning some chose to head into Bunbury early and do some shopping prior to a BBQ lunch at Koombana Bay. All other students then followed and met for a swim, some lunch and lots of fun.

Saturday evening was beautiful weather wise and many of the students spent time chatting outside in the gazebo area and on the lawns. So far, all the students have been very sociable and engaging which is fantastic to see.

Sunday was another hot one so it was a quick morning swim in at the Harvey pool. The afternoon was spent socialising and catching up.

Tuesday after dinner, some members of the Harvey Bulls' committee and coaches attended the College to speak with our students about the club, the teams on offer and training times. The club and the College have worked closely together over the years with many students playing across all grades of football and netball.

Everything in Moderation

Once again, we have had many of the dorms pooling resources and supplying large quantities of Zooper Dooper icy poles. This is great and it is always nice to cool down with an icy treat, however many students are consuming a large amount of them on a daily basis. The staff are concerned that they are seeing a change in attitude and behaviour of many of the students who appear to be running on a “sugar high”. Please re-iterate with your child that everything is ok in moderation, before we need to set limits in the dorms to what is brought onsite.

Wednesday evening Mr Jones ran dodgeball in the gym, with most students either participating or supporting their friends. It was a sight to see. Great job.

Inappropriate Language

Poor language is a concern in and around the residential facilities and staff are regularly speaking with the students about the use of foul language. It is inappropriate and we will continue to try and assist students to get out of this habit. We would encourage parents and guardians to re-iterate with their child the inappropriateness of this type of language.

Wildlife around the College

The College is very lucky to have a small colony of Bandicoots around the back of the Dorms. I had cause to speak to a number of students who were chasing the bandicoots for a “selfie”. They are not Rottnest Quokkas and they are not about to pose for a photo. Bandicoots are wild creatures and need to be left to their own devices. Students should enjoy the opportunity to be able to view them at relatively close range as this is something that many people will never have the opportunity to see.

Laundry Numbers

Lastly, just a further reminder to parents about the numbering of both school uniforms and any personal clothing with your child’s laundry number. We had 6 brand new pairs of Trade pants come through the laundry yesterday with absolutely no markings or numbers on them. We know that our amazing laundry lady Karen is brilliant, but she is not able to identify unmarked clothing. All these clothes look similar and they can only be identified by laundry numbers.
