Student Wellbeing

Body Image / Eating Disorders

A friendly reminder of the information and tips shared on dojo regarding body image.

1. Visit Butterfly Foundation website, surf through their information and join Newsletter https://butterfly.org.au/ (Highly recommended)- Sign up to Body Kind Families https://butterfly.org.au/get-involved/campaigns/bodykindfamilies/

2. Be mindful of the language you use at home when commenting and attaching positivity around how someone looks.

3. Be mindful of what content you consume at home. A number of students in senior school have mentioned they watch MAFS, a show surrounded by body image red flags.

4. Promote positive healthy role models, for girls people like Sam Kerr (Womans World Cup is approaching), Taryn Brumfitt (Aus of the Year), Ash Barty, Michelle Obama (Try not to focus on movie or music stars as their careers have an element of body image and looks attached to them.)

5. Promote a healthy lifestyle with food and fitness, not around looks, but by promoting and modelling keeping active in any way shape or form.

6. Consider watching EMBRACE the body image documentary by Aussie of the Year - Taryn Brumfitt
