Breakfast Club - 16th February

We had our first Breakfast Club for 2023 and it was busy! In fact, we had the most amount of students come to the breakfast club since it started last year. The crowd favourite is still toast with sprinkles.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Bakers Delight in Dingley for sponsoring our breakfast club. They provide loaves of bread for us to make yummy toast for our students.

The breakfast club runs every Thursday from 7.50 am - 8.25 am with toast, fruit and cold drinks available - all free!

Visual Communications Designs - 20th February

Both Year 9 VCD classes have commenced the design process for the Mug Design unit. As an introduction to the unit, students familiarised themselves with the mug that they will later design the surface graphics and packaging for. Our students studied the scale, proportions, form, tone and surface texture of the mug and completed an observational drawing of it. All our students did an amazing job!

Opening School Mass 21st February

On Tuesday we gathered for our 2023 Opening School Mass. The occasion is always one of great celebration as we come together to welcome everyone to the new school year. Congratulations to Mr Peter O'Neill (AP: Faith and Mission) and Josie Dilettoso (REC), the Celebrations Committee and the Years 11 and 12 Drama classes for the wonderful liturgy. Our thanks also, as ever, to our Chaplain, Fr Brian Collins. Also in attendance were a number of Brigidine Sisters - who we are always so pleased to see.

We also launched our Caritas - Project Compassion fundraising and showcased our display, from each Year Level, for our 2023 theme of 'COURAGE: Be Brave, Be Strong, Be You'.

Following the Mass the students, staff and our visitors joined together to have lunch on the oval.

Ash Wednesday - 22nd February

NAPLAN results - 22nd February

NAPLAN is identified as one of the many important tools used by schools to ensure students reach their full potential and to identify areas of growth. Recognising this is a snapshot in time, we are, however, incredibly proud of our achievements released today by ACARA.

We are thrilled to share that Killester College is:

▪️ The highest-ranked Catholic Secondary School in Victoria

▪️ Ranked 3rd in ACARA's list of High Achieving Secondary Schools across Victoria.

▪️ Ranked 8th nationwide, and the only Secondary School in the top 10 in Australia.

Furthermore, 100% of students at Killester demonstrated growth in the data in the past 3 years; this means that every single student enrolled at Killester grew in their achievement from Year 7 to Year 9. What an amazing reflection on our incredible community.

Congratulations to our staff and students on these exceptional results!

Project Compassion - 23rd February

Chelsea. L from Year 12, has courageously decided to shave her hair to raise funds for @caritasaust, Project Compassion. Project Compassion brings thousands of supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
