Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Conclusion of Summer Season

As we move towards the semi-final stage of the season, it would be remiss of me not to thank and acknowledge a number of Year 12 boys who have represented the College for the last time in a Summer sport. Please know that your contribution to the Co-curricular Program and the wider St Patrick’s College community is truly appreciated and I trust you will have many fond memories to look back on.

Swimming Squad Report

The SPC swimming squad competed in the 2023 Annual Christian Brothers Swimming Carnival at Ryde Aquatic Centre on Saturday 25 February. It was a great opportunity for all the squad to demonstrate the efforts from their training and improvements from the school carnival. There was a great sense of excitement surrounding the relays with lots of enthusiastic cheering, and some great wins across the squad.

The Junior age groups showed some great potential with strong efforts across all events.

There were a number of outstanding individual and team performances, particularly from the Intermediate swimmers including Austin Hall, Jack Taylor, James Kelly, Yun Yi and Jakon Poon. Their outstanding performances in the pool resulted in SPC winning the Intermediate Shield. Special mention to Jack Taylor who broke a meet record in the 16 Years 50m Freestyle event in a time of 24.47sec.

Congratulations to the Senior relay teams who secured 2nd place, falling just short to a strong Waverly side. In their last CCB Carnival for the College Swim Squad, the Opens boys swam strongly, notably in the 4x50m Medley Relay. Noah Kite got the team off to a great start with a lead in the Backstroke leg, followed by myself swimming Breaststroke, Matthew Svoboda swimming Butterfly, then brought home by Martin Quach swimming Freestyle to take out 2nd place.

Hopefully these achievements at the carnival will help the squad perform even better at the upcoming ISA Championships in a few weeks’ time.
