Week 5 Update
It’s hard to believe that we are already in Week 5 of Term 1. When you look back though, it’s amazing just how much we have done in this time. Looking forward, there is still so much to come in the second half of the term.
Last Friday, the first of the Junior School representative squads had their first competition. The Swimming Squad took to the Garland Pool at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview for the annual BPSSA Swimming Carnival. An intimate carnival of six fellow Brother schools, the competition was a closely fought battle. The St Patrick’s boys did very well, placing in the majority of their events. Thank you to Mr Stephen Cooper (6 Green) for all his support and assistance on the day. The Swimming Squad will be attending the IPSHA Swimming Carnival this Wednesday 1 March. We wish them the best of luck for the day.
Recently the NSWCIS Cricket trials for primary boys were held at The King's School, Parramatta. A small contingent of boys headed out to trial to join some of the best young cricketers in the NSW independent school system. Traditionally a very tough trial, our boys did very well. Congratulations to William Malone (Year 6) for his selection into the NSWCIS Cricket Team. We wish him the best of luck at the upcoming Cricket carnival.
A reminder that this Friday 3 March the Junior School will participate in the Annual House Swimming Carnival to be held at Birrong Pool. Boys are to come to school in their sport uniform, with their swimmers underneath. Boys will be boarding the buses promptly at 8:30 AM, so arrival at school should be no later than 8:00 AM on Friday. All boys are expected to swim their 50m freestyle and breaststroke events. For those boys who aren’t the strongest swimmers, kickboards will be available for their events. Boys may be collected at the conclusion from the carnival, however an email or note must be sent to classroom teachers prior to this Friday. I look forward to seeing many parents and carers out at the pool to support the boys throughout the day.
This week we will start the trial process for some of our Cultural Co-curricular activities in the Junior School. Boys interested in Debating and Social Justice will need to listen to announcements for information on how to sign up for these trials.
