Eggstraordinary Easter Raffle

A fun morning was enjoyed on the last day of Term 1, with many students sporting Easter inspired accessories, and big smiles, as the paperless raffle was drawn!  An enormous thank you again to generous local businesses Lizzy’s Chocolates and Print on Wood, as well as to Mark Fisher, Candice Hall, Lucy Gow and all the other PFA volunteers, staff and Grade 6 school leaders who helped to make the raffle such a success.

The lucky winner of the 5kg first prize was Alice V from Grade 5!

Mothers’ Day Stall

Mother's Day is celebrated across Australia on Sunday 9th May.  At Carnegie PS Mothers' Day is a time to celebrate all the important women in our lives - mums, grandmas, aunties, friends, teachers and more!  As in previous years, the PFA have organised a range of beautiful gifts, and children will have the opportunity to select and purchase one of these for someone special to them, next Wednesday, 5th May.  The gift stall will run during school time on Wednesday, 5th May, and gifts will be priced between $2 and $6.  If your child would like to take part in the gift stall, please send a small amount of money to school with them on this day. (Please try and send students with correct money as we have limited change)

If you are able to help out with the wrapping of the gifts next Monday morning 9-11am in the staffroom, please contact Pooja at poojajethra@gmail.com

Apple Fundraiser

With the end of term 1 bringing plenty of indulgences with our Hot Cross Bun drive, and Easter Raffle, the PFA have kicked off Term 2 with something a little lighter, healthier and more wholesome – an Apple Fundraiser!

Every year, Sherwood Park Orchard receives plenty of eager visitors to pick their own apples.  This year, the PFA has organised for Sherwood Park Orchard to pick the apples for us and deliver them to Carnegie.  Choice includes Pink Lady and Granny Smith varieties – each $7.50 for a 2kg bag – a great price for farm fresh apples, delivered to Carnegie!  Every 2kg bag sold will bring $2 back to the school.

Today is the final day for orders (through Qkr).  Apples can be picked up from school next Monday, 3rd May.

Mothers’ Day Breakfast

This year the PFA would love to invite you to come and celebrate the Mothers of CPS together!  Join us for a delicious breakfast at Major Mitchell Café, 122 Grange Road Carnegie (cnr Glenhuntly Rd) on Wednesday 12th May from 7:30 – 9am.

Tickets are available now in Qkr for $30.30 each, and include a glass of Chandon on arrival, a range of gourmet breakfast options (you can see these in Qkr, and they cater for GF, vego and vegan), and a beverage.

Tickets are limited and sales will close on 9th May, if not sold out prior.

Support local business who are supporting our school

Support the School each time you shop at Botanical Creations (124 Grange Road) or Bakers Delight Carnegie!  At either of these businesses, mention Carnegie Primary School and 5% of the sale will be donated to us, or put towards new garden products for the school.

Where does the money go?

Your ongoing generosity and support of fundraising initiatives enables the PFA to support the school in a range of ways.  In 2020 we were able to contribute to the new playground / landscaping near the Grade 3 portables ($10,000), the installation of sensor taps in the junior toilets ($7,590), the acquisition of shelving for the library ($2,232), as well as several smaller purchases of books, toys, games and other classroom resources across the school (for a total of $1,139).

Towards the end of last term we received a lovely note from the Grade 1 teachers, which shows how much these contributions are valued and appreciated by staff and students.

Dear PFA,

We all wanted to say a very BIG thank you for supporting our Year 1 area and because of your generous funds, we were able to purchase some much-loved resources for the students to use.

We ordered 3 x 'You Choose' books for each of the five grades, lots of magnetic tiles for maths, some new Lego bricks/platforms and some play animal sets for developmental play times (see photos below). The kids were wrapped!!!

We all realise the hard work that goes on 'behind the scenes' so cheers from us all.
