Champs' Park Run

On Saturday 24th April the second official Champs' Elwood Park Run was held in memory of Marcus Champion. For those students who my not have known him, he was a wonderful teacher, colleague, father, husband and friend.

Sadly in 2019 he passed away from a rare case of bowel cancer.

The run was held in torrential rain (and then sunshine), but even that didn't stop many coming out to support the cause as they ran or walked the 5kms. Everyone put in a fabulous effort and it was great to see our community get behind Bowel Cancer Australia-we raised a massive $7,253 to go towards bowel cancer research.

A big thanks to Ms. Remfry, and Mr Acklom for coordinating the event, as well as Ms McGregor, Ms Slattery, Miss Carhart, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Miller, Ms Dawe, Ms Easthope, Miss Harley, Mr Acklom's wife Emily and his son Cooper who volunteered and helped make the day possible.

Angus B was the first male across the line and set a new event record, 18 mins 46 seconds and Georgia M, one of our students from 2020 won the female category in 23mins 23 seconds. Congratulations to you both, Mr Champion would be proud that two students beat all the adults!
