ENROLMENTS FOR 2022

It may seem many months away but enrolments are now being taken for 2022. Parents who are aware of friends, neighbours or relatives who have a child ready to start school in 2022, please let them know that enrolments are now being taken with our 2022 Prep Expo occurring on Saturday 8th May from 10.30 till 12pm.

As in previous years Mrs Bentata-Grimm and I are also available to answer questions or show interested parents and students around our wonderful school following the Expo on 8th May.

CPS IS A “RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS” LEAD SCHOOL

Late last term we were notified by the Department of Education that we have been selected as a Respectful Relationships Lead School. We join other schools in taking a whole-school approach to Respectful Relationships and building a culture of respect and gender equality across school communities. As a Lead School, we will play a critical role in implementing the initiative and supporting a cluster of Partner Schools.

I would like to particularly acknowledge Jenni Spataro, our Wellbeing team leader for her efforts in leading this from a school and network level.

DET TUTORING INITIATIVE

At Carnegie PS we are providing some additional targeted learning support guided by the Victorian Government’s Tutor Learning Initiative. Throughout Term 1, we identified the students who were to be supported by this initiative and the sessions have commenced this term. The education and wellbeing of all our students is our priority and with the additional support of tutors, teaching teams in our school can continue to ensure that all students will receive targeted support in 2021.

ANNUAL REPORTING

As part of accountability requirements, a report is provided to the school community each year for the previous year. This Annual Report was due to the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development by 31st March, 2021 and was presented to School Council at our March meeting. This report is available on request from the office and has been placed on our school website.

REVIEWING OUR SCHOOL AND WRITING OUR NEXT STRATEGIC PLAN

We have been advised by DET that our school will undertake a school review with our last Strategic Plan written in 2018. This review will commence in term 3 with us first completing a school self- evaluation. This is an opportunity for us to reflect on our achievements, our strengths and areas where improvement is needed.

On completion of our self-evaluation, an external reviewer will work with us to offer independent and expert advice on our progress. We will then be in a position to develop and write our next Strategic Plan. We very much looking forward to find opportunities to obtain feedback from our parents community in relation to our school and seek meaning feedback in terms of setting purposeful future goals and priorities for our school. Further information will be made throughout this term.
