Inquiry Centre

Curriculum
Selamat siang!
We started our week off with a bang at Cross Country. It was fantastic to see students putting in their best effort and showing so much sportsmanship to their peers. The whole Inquiry Centre would like to thank Mrs Butterworth for all of her hard work organising Cross Country!
In Literacy, students focused on developing their comprehension skills by finding directly stated information in texts. They practised highlighting, skimming and scanning to find evidence to support their answers to comprehension questions. In Writing, students used their creativity to write another narrative. We are so impressed with the interesting stories students created, as well as all of the WOW words and descriptive phrases used to add detail and description. Some students began publishing their stories using an iPad, which is always a highlight for many students, and a great way to build their digital literacy skills.
In Maths, we focused on building our knowledge of time by reading analogue and digital clocks. Students explored o’clock, half past and quarter past/to times, as well as time to the minute for confident students. Keep your eyes on Seesaw to view your child’s Time portfolio, showcasing their knowledge and skills about time. This is an excellent skill to continue practicing at home by using an analogue clock to identify times in your daily schedule, for example what time you eat dinner or go to bed.
We finished our week with Buddies, which is always a highlight for many students. The Year One students worked collaboratively with their Year Six buddies to create a Mother’s Day card. The Year Two students spent time with the Year 3/4s, also creating Mother’s Day cards as well as catching up with their peers from last year.
This week the Inquiry Centre have their Healesville Sanctuary Excursion. This excursion will support our Guided Inquiry unit on Sustainability, as well as our connection with Indigenous Perspectives. Please ensure your child arrives at school promptly at 8:50am dressed in their full school uniform. Students should bring a small backpack with a drink bottle, morning tea and lunch, hat and raincoat.
