Selamat siang!
On your marks, get set, GO! It was such a fun way to begin our Monday with Cross Country! We were very happy that the weather held off for us again meaning we could
enjoy a successful day of running. Well done to everyone who participated and displayed perseverance throughout the race. A big thank you to all the amazing parent helpers and to Mrs Butterworth and Mrs Embry for organising another seamless event.
Last week in Maths, we completed our Addition unit for the term and students were able to discuss and see their progress from their post assessment. Teachers and students were very impressed with the growth shown from the first three weeks. We now move into our next topic, Measurement and Geometry, where students will complete a range of hands on tasks using Cartesian planes and graphs.
In Writing sessions, students began looking at persuasive writing by first unpacking different elements in a published piece on Animal testing. Students identified the
introduction, topic sentence, evidence and explanation as well as a linking sentence. In groups, they discussed effective literary devices such as emotive language and word choice as well as powerful conclusions that influence readers to make a change or a ‘Call to Action’.
In Guided Inquiry, the 5/6s began researching a Natural Disaster or an extreme weather event in a small group. They looked at patterns, dangers, how to plan for the disaster and how Natural Disasters or extreme weather events form. Over the next few weeks, students will collect items from home and school to create a diorama of their disaster and present their findings to their peers. They also continue to collect data from their weather instruments to assist with filling out different graphs and tables.
Last week in Kitchen Garden, the 5/6s made a delicious Blitva: Croatian Swiss Chard & Potatoes! It has been great to see all student embrace trying new foods and actively participating in the process! Thanks for your dedication too Bu Mundy!
We hope that the amazing mothers, grandmothers, aunties and carers had a wonderful day yesterday and were spoiled with a handmade card or even breakfast in bed.
Enjoy your week,
