NAPLAN

Next week our Year 3 and 5 students will undertake the National Assessment NAPLAN. Our approach to these assessments are more around gathering whole year level data and seeing where our teaching and learning programs sit against 'Like Schools', which are schools with similar enrolment features, such as size, to ours. This information enables us to review our learning programs and analyse how our students perform in particular areas of the curriculum.

Teachers have been preparing students over the past weeks to be more comfortable with the assessment style and what questions will look like in the assessments.

Cross Country

Next Thursday afternoon we will be holding our school level House Cross Country. Students are encouraged to wear house colours to school and take part in this fun event. We would love to see everyone participating as each person who completes wins points for their house, regardless of where they place. Students will be running a course that does take them out of the school grounds so please ensure that you have provided permission through Compass for the Local Area Excursions. If you are able to assist with the running of the event please contact Bonny Chisholm.

Chaplain Programs

You will have received via Compass a number of invites from Melissa Moore (sorry for the initial confusion, we're getting used to have two Melissa's on staff) our school Chaplain for a number of casual events coming up. Melissa would love to be able to meet with families of our community, so if you're able to join her for a cuppa or breakfast club she is looking forward to getting to know you.

3/4 Camp

After such a disappointing last year with missing camps, it will be fantastic to see our Year 3/4 students heading off to Camp Manyung shortly. If your child is experiencing concerns about the camp let your classroom teacher know and we can look for ways to support them. It is a big step in developing independence spending two nights away from family with a large group but such a worthwhile experience.

Open Night

On Wednesday, May 26th we will be holding Open Night. This is a great opportunity for families to come through the school after hours. Our theme will be 'Wellbeing in the Classroom' and we will be 'open' between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. More information will come out shortly.
