WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

GARDENING CLUB

Gardening Club has officially kicked off this term and it was great to see so many students get in the garden this week. Gardening club will take place every Monday lunchtime, we will meet at the garden shed by the bike shed at 12.00pm. This week everyone was busy clearing out the current garden beds, composting the old plants and reinvigorating the soil with warm tea from our worm farms. A huge shout out to Lorraine Casey who is

volunteering her time every Monday. Lorraine is a horticulturalist expert and we are very grateful to have her on board!

GRANTS

A huge shout out must also go to Yen and Lily, two wonderful parents who have been busy in applying for and securing grants and donations, from Landcare Australia, Bunnings and the Victorian Schools Garden Program. We are very grateful for your time and efforts in supporting our team.

ZERO HERO

Here at SMPPS we encourage all students and families to be ZERO HEROES!! We are

seeing larger numbers of wrappers around the school, both in the classrooms and out in the yard. We are asking students and families to bring their food and snacks in reusable

containers and lunchboxes. Try to avoid plastic bags, things in wrappers, cling film or foil!

Thought for the week - Instead of wrapping sandwiches in glad wrap or foil, why not buy a reusable container and label it with your child's name. Not only is this better for the environment, it is also cheaper in the long run and one way you can be a ZERO HERO!!!
