Student Leadership Forum

Vermont Secondary College

Student Leadership Forum

On Monday, the Heads of House facilitated a Student Leadership Forum for our elected student leaders. In the morning our Junior School Form Captains participated in games, activities and discussion groups to identify and foster leadership skills and heard from our College Principal Tony Jacobs. Students worked collaboratively, practiced public speaking and explored leadership opportunities at our college. A special thanks to Mike and Ellie our School Captains – who spent time working with the Junior School students and to Alanah (Hotham House Captain) for her inspiring delivery of her leadership journey and experiences at our college.

Later in the morning – our entire Student Leadership Team worked together to conduct a Leadership Skills Self-Assessment and facilitated a brainstorming session to identify possible Studentship Leadership projects for 2021 and beyond.

Moving forward the data gathered in the sessions will be explored further in our Student Leadership House teams to develop these amazing ideas.

“The Vermont House Leadership teams came together to start the week off with a leadership workshop including a visit from past teacher Mr Woodcock. Through building relationships between the different house leaders but also between the junior and senior involvement, we worked collaboratively with each other on activities and achieved and set new goals to use and improve our skills. We worked on self-evaluation and independent development as well as collective improvement as a team and working towards common goals.

Thank you to all the students who participated and made it a great experience, and all the teachers and staff who helped out.”
