Year 12 Success = What?
Thursday 6 May - Periods 1 and 2
Arthur Bolkas - A former law student who went ‘off the rails’ and landed in prison for 5½ years on armed robbery charges. Arthur turned his life around, and for over 30 years has helped other offenders to do likewise.
A criminologist and professional speaker, Arthur’s lived experience of imprisonment coupled with his professional work uniquely qualifies him to understand the issues surrounding offending and reintegration.
We couldn't have been happier with Arthur's presentation. He addressed relevant topics in an engaging and informative way that spoke straight to the students' curriculum as well as their interests. Some hard-hitting truths about the prison system were discussed and students walked away feeling empowered and motivated.
This was a great opportunity for our students to explore resilience and coping strategies after a difficult 2020!
Year 12 GAT Practice
Tuesday 11 May
During IPT, all Year 12 VCE students will be required to attend this important session, where the Senior School Coordinators will run through the format and how to tackle questions.
After the session, Specialist teachers from Maths, Humanities and English departments will run through practice questions from these areas.
Year 11 GAT Practice
Tuesday 18 May
During IPT, all Year 11 students will be required to attend this session in order to gain valuable skills to complete their GAT, either this year or in 2022. The format will be similar to that outlined above for Year 12 students.
Wednesday 9 June - GAT

The General Achievement Test (GAT) is a test of general knowledge and skills in these broad areas:

Year 12 Captains' Report
It was great to chat to our enthusiastic captains about some of the things that have been going on both in and out of school.
Lilydale High School was proudly represented by Ella McLeod, Bec Clark and Taylah Tillitson at the Dawn Service in Lilydale on ANZAC Day.
Ella read ‘In Flanders Field’, Bec read the ‘ANZAC Requiem’ and Tayla read ‘For England’.
Some other exciting events for our Year 12s have been the Boys Netball competition which they ‘smashed’, the excursion to watch a production titled, ‘Man Up’ by our Drama students and Theatre Studies students performance of FIREBRINGER.
Year 12 Breakfast - Fridays
With chilly Lilydale mornings on the rise as winter approaches, we have noticed a drop in the attendance at our Year 12 breakfast on Friday mornings.
For students who have never attended, it is a great opportunity to socialise and end the week in a relaxed way.
Our captains always go to a great effort to ensure they supply a variety of yummy foods, music playing and on occasions, dancing and games.
Students are encouraged to make the effort to come in at 8 am and join in the fun!
Feeling stressed?
VCE door is always OPEN
With VCE Units 1 and 3 coming towards their close, students may be feeling a little overwhelmed.
Students should make the time to drop into our office and have a chat to any one of the coordinators. We will be able to help with strategies to improve their focus and organisation, help reduce anxiety and point them in the right direction if we cannot help.
VCE Weekly Planning Sheets
We now have NEW Weekly Planning Sheets. If students are not using something like this, they can pop in to our office to collect one and discuss how to use them.
Alternatively, students can print these out using the link on Google Classroom - Weekly Study Planner.
Year 12 Biology
Year 12 students in Ms Solomons Biology class, have been doing research on plant hormones and presenting in creative ways. Role play was one group's choice!
