Middle Years Trimester Rotation

During 2021, the Middle Years Art and Design subjects have moved from term length rotations into trimester rotations. This initiative will enable our students to delve deeper into their learning and engage fully with the curriculum over 12 - 13 weeks, rather than the 9 - 10  weeks we had previously. Year 6 - 8 rotations switched to trimester two last week.  These subjects will be reported on at the end of the year. Our third trimester for the year will begin on 23 August. The students have certainly appreciated the increased time to engage in meaningful learning experiences.

Partnership with Wyndham Tech School

GNLC has partnered with Wyndham Tech School to give our students the opportunity to immerse themselves in programs and interact with technology that activates curiosity, challenges thinking and promotes problem solving.

The world of work has never been more unpredictable with all industry sectors facing a digital technology skills shortage. By 2025, Australia will need 6.5million additional workers with digital skills.

Wyndham Tech School will be holding an Industry Specialist Panel discussion, ‘Future of Work’ on 17 June 2021. Some of our staff will be attending to listen to a panel of six industry leaders provide valuable insights into what it means for businesses, and the new job opportunities this is creating for our young people.

National Careers Week / WRICA Careers Expo

National Careers Week is an initiative that aims to celebrate careers, career development, and promote the economic, social and personal benefits of career development. I was pleased to attend  the ‘WRICA Careers Expo’ (Wyndham & Hobsons Bay Region Incorporated Careers Association) on Friday 21 May at Werribee Racecourse with our Year 10, 11 and 12 students. They were able to see, first hand from industries and tertiary providers, the career opportunities available to them and the value of career development. We are confident that this Expo provided the students with the necessary tools for them to be able to make informed decisions about education, training and work.

If students have any career enquiries, they should contact our Careers Coordinator,

Ms Celeste Cameron.
