EccIesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.

I was inspired last week, by the words of a Year 12 student who spoke at a Senior Year’s Service held for Bless Akoch. I am sharing them with you, as I feel that his insights can apply to any challenge – including another period of remote learning!

I was at such a high point the week before I got the news because I was just coming off of a fast for God to draw closer to him. Then I got that call on Friday night. I started to have these doubts about God. These negative thoughts began creeping in. But as I reflected, I found peace in God because I knew he was always there with me in the good times and that he was going to be with me through the mourning as well. God is with us through it all. God is there to comfort us during the good times and the difficult times. I am reminded through scripture that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18). This verse gave me the reassurance to know that it is all in God’s plan. He has good days planned ahead and even though this time may be difficult, it is worth it for glory that is to come. There’s always a breakthrough on the other side. Sebastian F

Sebastian’s words encouraged me to think of our purpose in all the “seasons” that we experience. I am a strong believer that God places people where he wants them; with challenges that allow us to best serve Him, our families and our community. Each of us are in this community for a reason! At times, the reasons are not clear and the challenges seem too hard, but God has a purpose for each situation.

When we started this year, we were excited to be back on campus and back to “normal”. Some of us may have been well aware of our purpose, and some of us may still be wondering. Through all that we have faced, and will face, there has been (and will be) a time for laughter, a time for sorrow, a time to be silent and a time to speak, and so much more, as we journey through all the seasons of 2021.

We trust in God to bless each season and that He will reveal the purpose of where we are now when the time is right. As the rest of the Bible passage reveals to us, there is a season for everything and we can thank God for the rhythm which is created and the strength that we gain through each experience.

No matter the season or the changes, nor the joys or sorrows which we face, the one constant in our lives is the unfailing love of Christ and the promise we have in Him for our salvation.

I look forward to being a part of all the coming seasons of Good News. I know that during all that is to come, we will share our laughter, our joy and our sorrow and we will continue to support and care for each other, as we discover and work towards our purpose.

May God continue to bless our school community over the coming weeks and months, as this year unfolds.
