What is the definition of LOVE? According to Google, it’s an intense affection for another person based on personal or familial ties. A deep tenderness, affection and concern felt for a person with whom one has a relationship.

In this week’s Gospel reading on the fourth Sunday of Lent, John 3:16 states: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

By his life, Jesus revealed the ways in which to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth; demonstrating how to love others so that we may attain salvation and enjoy eternal life.

We are all made in the image and likeness of God and therefore all possess God-given gifts that we are called to share. We all have a responsibility to use these gifts and share our love and light on the injustices that exist within our world, and are challenged to be a light that drives change.

Loving God, We pray for the inspiration and courage to shine the light on injustices in our local and global communities, and to let our own light shine unto others, so that we may be agents of change who bring about the kingdom of God on earth. Amen

Students in 3BB have read the story 'The Water Princess' based on the true life experiences of Georgie Badiel, an African model, who spent her childhood in Burkina, Faso where she and other girls from the village had to walk for miles to fill pots with water for the basics like drinking, bathing and cooking. In her village alone, nearly a quarter of the population has no access to clean water.  After sharing this story, the students  explored ways they can bring God’s love and light to the world by ‘being more.’
