Quiet Caves

The final contemporary learning space visible at St Edward's is called the Cave. This, along with the Campfire and the Watering Hole, make up David Thornburg's three flexible learning spaces. In discussing the use of the Cave as a learning space, Thornburg stated that "schools need to recognise the importance of thinking and reflection as part of learning, actively teach it to our students, and give them the opportunity to experience a quiet space."

The Cave is a space where an individual can think, reflect, and work independently to transform their learning. It is the home of the reflective learner where students are able to work independently to make meaning of their learning.

Using our senses to Tighten the Tension

Click below to read some fantastic descriptive writing samples from our Stage 3 students. The students were challenged to use their five senses to create scenes that were full of tension.
