GOLF COACHING CLINIC

Over at Alma Park Mrs Thompson organised a Golf Coaching Clinic for our older students, in their Physical Education lessons, run by Paul Boxall from Golf Australia. Who knows what budding golf stars we may have amidst us?  By gaining a Sporting Schools grant last year, the acquired money was put towards the purchase of 2 golfing kits full of equipment, PE teachers completed Golf PD courses, as well as the hiring of the Golf coach to come in to model their first lesson on golf. It was wonderful to see all students so focused and enjoying their golfing experience.   Further golf lessons in PE will occur over the year.

SWIM TEAM SELECTED

It was wonderful to see a number of our Year 3 - 6 students attend our Swimming trials last Thursday at Prahran pool.  Many thanks to Mrs Kidman and Mr Scott for assisting Mrs Thompson with the running of these trials.  A special thanks also goes to the parents who assisted in various ways as well - much appreciated!

A Swim Team of 20 students has now been selected to represent our school at our Holt District Swimming Carnival at Oakleigh Rec. Pool next Friday 19th February.

Families with swim team members will receive an Operoo email in the next 24 hours, requesting permission and outlining all requirements for that day.

*Sadly due to Covid-19 restrictions, no spectators are allowed to attend on the day.

RE NEWS

Project Compassion

Each family and classroom will receive a Project Compassion box.  Please return these to school at the beginning of Term 2.  Caritas Australia’s annual fundraising and awareness-raising appeal, bringing thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.  Running through the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of caring supporters, all in the name of justice and peace.  It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia.

VISUAL ARTS

This week in Visual Arts we created thumbprint cards to show the love for our families as our way of celebrating Valentine's Day.  We looked at Mother Teresa as our role model, who showed unconditional love to everyone she met in the way she cared for them. Using the idea that our own thumbprint is unique to us, we created our own thumbprint families, and used quotes by Mother Teresa to reference our work. Some of her quotes that we love are "If you want to bring happiness into the World, go home and LOVE your families" Another one we shared was " Not all of us can do Great Things, but we can do small things with Great LOVE".

The work featured is a selection from Class 3B.
