SHROVE TUESDAY

Well done to Josh from Year 8 who celebrated Shrove Tuesday, he researched his own recipe and cooked pancakes for his family.

KNITTING CLUB

Knitting Club has kicked off to a great start already this year. We have had two sessions so far and had a keen attendance of mostly beginners who have taken to the needles like pro’s.  Some students have already mastered plain and are onto purl – even Mrs Leslie ! ( I am secretly hoping Mr Leslie will shortly be sporting something bright and wacky !)

The plan is to get the “Knitwits” to a level where they can knit a Beanie, as that is a project that is an achievable goal.

It has been a joy to have so many students come and sit around the table in the Library and be so interested in learning this great skill. We have already decided to expand the group to two days a week and they will be Monday and Friday.

I hope we will also get knitters who would like to learn more difficult things like cables or lace, or how to read a pattern.

Ms Van Dillen and I would love to see anyone wishing to join us. If you have a project in hand  or want to learn, please come along.

Also if anyone has needles they no longer need we would be grateful. 4m, 5mm or 6mm would be best or any spare 8ply wool would be handy also.

YEAR 7 PHILLIP ISLAND CAMP

Our Year 7's and also Mrs Leslie are having a lovely time at Phillip Island Camp enjoying lots of activities.

SSV CRICKET - FRIDAY 26 FEBRUARY

SSV TENNIS - FRIDAY 26 FEBRUARY

SSV VOLLEYBALL - FRIDAY 26 FEBRUARY

YEAR 8 SSV GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

It was a tense day, even though we did not win a game, which sounds odd. Each game was close in points. Every game was close in ability.

Our day was well organised, encouragement from each other was there in abundance and good sportsmanship was displayed from all our teams.

Our first game was against Korumburra and we lost both sets by 2 points, after leading nearly the whole first set - I found it very tense.

Our second game was against Leongatha and again close going down in each set by 3 points - so again it was close.

Our third game against Wonthaggi 2 saw us play three sets and again all close games.

The fourth game was no different, we were winning in both sets. The second set was neck and neck with the score ending 21 to 19 - their way.

The team consisted of

  • Anna Rowe - with confidence serving and at one point I think she got 7 points in a row from service.
  • Matisse Carmody - giving encouragement to all during the day
  • Zoe Couper - the surprise of the day with a very consistent approach to her digs
  • Amy Treacy - to see the improvement in service in the second game after some tips from Mr Damon
  • Kahlyn Van Rossen - nice to see her stepping forward at the net in the third game
  • Caitlin Charlton - great to see her consistent play for the day
  • Amelia Gromotka - was enthusiastic and keen to take a bit of punishment to win the point
