"Invincible": the staff team

The annual International Student VS Teacher Basketball Game took place at the school Gym on Thursday 25th May. The excited student teacher spectators cheered out for their favourite team. The staff team seems forever invincible; however the young International Students fought out, which created a fierce competition for all to enjoy. Thank you to the PE faculty for your tremendous support.

Celebrating the traditional Dragon Boat Festival

On the 30th of May, International Students celebrated another traditional Asia Festival-Dragon Boat Festival (which is on the Fifth day of the fifth month on the Lunar Calendar) and enjoyed the special food called Zong Zi (粽子), which is sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves.

The Dragon Boat Festival is originated from a Chinese national hero and famous poet Qu Yuan(340-278 BC) of the Chu Kingdom during the Warring States Period. He drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest the corrupted government. Chinese people admire his heroism and worship him by throwing rice into the river in hope of preventing fish from eating Qu Yuan’s body. This tradition evolved into the custom of eating rice dumplings on Dragon Boat Festival, to pay tribute and respect to national hero Qu yuan.
