Good afternoon families,

 Third Week of Lent

Loving God, in this time of Lent

Open our hearts and minds,

So that we can work with Jesus,

to overturn our attitudes and behaviours

that do not make for life.

May the wisdom of the cross

be the compass that directs our lives

and leads us to you

Amen.

Administration Building Project

As you would be aware the ceiling in the Administration area fell down in February 2020.

We have been waiting for insurance to cover the cost of replacing the ceiling. Melbourne Archdiocesan Catholic Schools (MACS) recommended that we apply for a State Government Supplementary  Grant to refurbish all of the Administration/ Leadership building. This building continues to leak when we have heavy rainstorms and we have many areas that need attention.

We have received a 1.8 million grant and on Thursday we will start the process by interviewing and appointing an Architect.

I will keep you all updated with the progress of this refurbishing and will ask for parent input when we get further into the process.

Perceptual Motor Program ( PMP)

This week, the Prep students began a Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) and it is off to a fantastic start. We’ve been so pleased with the way the Prep students have engaged in the activities and we are so grateful for the number of volunteers who have offered to assist us.

The Perceptual Motor Program aims to develop a child's perceptions and understandings of themselves and their world through movement and motor experiences. Activities undertaken through the program are designed to develop the following in each child :

·      gross motor skills

·      fine motor skills

·      short term memory

·      eye tracking

·      language skills

·      fitness

·      balance

·      coordination

·      spatial awareness

PMP gives each child experiences in seeing, hearing, touching, processing, making perceptual judgements and reacting. This is achieved using a variety of equipment during carefully sequenced activities which include running, hopping, skipping, jumping, balancing, crawling, climbing, throwing, catching, bowling, rocking and sliding.

We look forward to lots more fun in PMP and to seeing the ongoing benefits for our students.

The Prep Team

Enjoy your long weekend
