Remote Learning

We were so amazed at the adaptability of our preps when we were thrown into the most recent lockdown. Their enthusiastic smiles greeted us on our screens each day, with stories and learning to share. They quickly learnt the online protocols, politely putting up their virtual hands and unmuting to speak, like they had done it all before. The excitement and chatter in the classrooms on our return to school demonstrated the important connections and friendships that school brings and how lucky we are to be back on-site! We are so very proud of the preps and their amazing home learning!

Science

The preps had an amazing time in science this week. We combined our unit of inquiry exploring our senses with the science of edible slime! The preppies noticed how the marshmallows went from being squishy to soft and melted. We then added cornflour and icing sugar to make our slime. The preps got to explore the slime through their senses, noticing what it looked like, smelt like, felt like, the sounds it made when playing with it and also the preps got to have a little taste!

Maths

The preps have been learning about 2 dimensional shapes. This week we discussed rectangles, and that a rectangle has 4 sides and 4 corners. We also learnt that a rectangle is different to a square because rectangles don’t have 4 equal sides, they have 2 short sides and 2 long sides. To reinforce our knowledge we made Ricky Rectangle - a rectangle character, with all of the details on the page made from rectangles. We have also made Sammy Square, Tommy Triangle and Suzi Circle!
