Tony will finish his time with us on the last day of Term 2 and commence his new position on Monday 5 July.  Tony has been a highly valued staff member who commenced his time at BNPS in July 2015 doing a CRT role in Prep and Year 2.  He officially started in January 2016 as a Year 5 teacher and more recently as a Year 4 classroom teacher.

Mrs Rachael Barrett will be the new teacher in Year 4 from the commencement of Term 3.  Rachael is well known to both the staff and the students and is an extremely experienced teacher. Rachel has taught in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria and brings with her the knowledge of three different state systems.

Welcome to our staff member Rachael and all the very best in your new role Tony!

We also farewell Sandra Durham who is retiring from her position in our school office. Sandra has been with us for 21 years which is a remarkable achievement. We appreciate her contribution to the efficient running of the school and the many laughs shared by the school staff and in particular the office staff.

We thank Sandra for all of her dedication and efforts and wish her well in her future endeavours.

We would like also like to welcome Helen Griffiths to our staff. She comes to us with a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for teaching Music. Helen will be teaching Music to Years 3-6 while Audrey Fine is on leave.

Please see the Interview with a staff member article in this newsletter for more information about Helen.

We farewell Mrs Shirley Kelly and thank her for her flexibility and commitment to providing continuity for our students at BNPS.  Shirley has very capably filled in for Claire Badley in Year 6 while Claire has been on leave. Once again, we farewell Shirley to warmer climes up north where she will re-unite with her family.  Enjoy that sunshine Shirley!

We also welcome back Mrs. Claire Badley to BNPS and the Year 6 team.

BNPS Biggest Morning Tea

We would like to congratulate the  SAT (Student Agency Team) for taking action by organising the Cancer Council's 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea' to support those in our school community impacted by cancer. The students enthusiastically celebrated this event today as they sat together in year levels to have their morning tea and by wearing a touch of yellow.

It was a lovely way for the students to be together chatting and enjoying the sunshine and also raising funds and recognition for this important cause.  The students raised $576.30.

As we look back over the term, we reflect on the challenges and celebrations that have been encountered and look forward to a relaxing break to recharge the batteries and spend time with friends and family.

We are so proud of our students, teachers and parents as they embraced yet again, the challenges of remote learning, developing resilience and skills in the use of technology in order to deliver the curriculum. We continue to foster the skills gained and maintain the wellbeing of our students as a priority.

We look forward to Student Led Conferences in Term 3, where our students will be able to showcase their learning, skills and progress for their parents and carers.

Curriculum Day - Date Change

We have rescheduled the Pupil free day originally planned for Friday July 30 in Term 3.

The Pupil free day is now taking place in Term 4 on Friday, 29 October.

The focus of the Professional Learning for teachers will be led by Michael Minas who has presented at conferences around the world and is an expert in the field of problem solving and student engagement.

Happy holidays!
