All mathematics lessons will contain a short session of mental maths strategies such as dynamic counting and partitioning. Within Number, our focus will begin with the place value of numbers from 1-20. Students will continue their learning of addition including partitioning partitions of 5 and 10 and the combinations that these numbers can be broken into. This will lead us into the relationship between Addition and Subtraction.
Students will also explore money and financial mathematics this term. Students will also be exploring patterns including repeating patterns with 2D shapes.
Measurement and Geometry -
Within measurement, students will be exploring time. They will focus on o’clock and be introduced to half past.
Students will revise their learning of 2D shape and 3D objects this term in geometry. We will then continue this focus to include transformation and tesselation of shapes.

Curiosity Matters - Materials
We will commence the term with an Inquiry unit about materials. Students will learn about different kinds of materials, what everyday materials are and where we can find them. Students will learn that objects and materials can be sorted according to their properties.
Science - Physical
On the Move - Forces
For the second half of the term, students will learn about the way objects move and how this depends on a variety of factors including their size and shape: a push or a pull affects how an object moves or changes shape. Students will learn about movement and change, ending with the design and production of a moving toy from each student.
Religion
Discipleship
Our main focus for this term is how we can be good disciples of Jesus. We will be exploring fairness, sharing and compassion in light of the story of Jesus. We will be interpreting what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and reflecting on how we could respond to the call of discipleship.
