Inquiry Centre

Curriculum

Selamat Siang from the Inquiry Centre! We would like to express our sincere thanks to parents and carers for your support in the transition into Remote Learning at the end of last week. We appreciate your preparation from home and supporting students to log onto their Google Meet Check-in on Friday! Please ensure you have checked Seesaw, where the times for your child is.

Week One was full of fun!

In Maths, students demonstrated their understanding of sharing and division through sharing objects such as counters and ‘toppings’ on their paper pizzas! It was wonderful to see students using hands on learning strategies to ensure items were shared into equal groups. Some students even challenged themselves to find the remainders in sharing equations. We are excited to display our sharing pizzas in the Inquiry Centre!

In Literacy, students continued to build on their persuasive skills through the Writing Choice Board. Advertisements about ice-cream, toys, shops and even hamsters were designed, including key words and bright colours - just some of the persuasive techniques we have observed and learnt about. Students also wrote about their favourite holiday destinations, why we shouldn’t squash ants and how they would convince their parents to let them keep a dinosaur! Talk about a dilemma!

In Science, students brainstormed all the information they know about scientists and collected all of the questions and wonderings they have about Science. We look forward to exploring these wonderings this term!

In Guided Inquiry, students discussed the diverse countries and places we all come from in Australia. We were excited to then design our own flags, which represented the different things that make us unique! Some designs included colours from flags of the world and symbols to represent our hobbies and interests.

Following on from NAIDOC week, we celebrated the incredible culture and stories of the First Nations People through engaging with dreamtime stories in Literacy Rotations, listening to Dreamtime Stories and Music , as well as designing our own interpretations of the NAIDOC Week Poster, ‘Heal Country’. Students reflected upon how they can contribute to heal and care for country, including the waterways, land and animals. We are so excited to see the student’s completed poster designs.

Once again, we would like to express our thanks to parents and carers for your partnership from home, especially during remote learning. Please remember that we are here to support you and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Classroom Teacher via Sentral.

Terima Kasih,

Miss Glen, Mrs Gill, Miss Honan, Mr Jenkins, Mrs Seadon, Miss Jean and Miss Wang
