Split Lunch Time
Following feedback from staff and students we are going to trial a return to split lunches for Term 3. This is similar to the structure we put in place last year during COVID restrictions.
Why are we trialling this?
- A majority of staff and students supported the change.
- It gives greater access and equity to the canteen.
- It enables more students the opportunity to be active at lunchtime and use resources like the basketball courts.
- It creates more space in the yard and less overcrowding.
- It enables a calmer and more peaceful yard at lunchtimes.
What does the new timetable look like?
To enable two separate lunchtimes there are now 5 periods, however students will continue to only attend four periods each day (as in Term 1 and 2). Period 3 or 4 is shortened to 60 minutes and students are either in class or at lunch.
Homeroom - 08:53 to 09:07am
Period 1 - 09:09 to 10:23am
Recess - 10:23 to 10:43am
Period 2 - 10:46 to 12:00pm
Period 3/Senior Lunch - 12:00 to 1:00pm
Period 4/Junior Lunch - 1:00 to 2:00pm
Period 5 - 2:01 to 3:15pm
What will happen at the end of Term 3?
Later in the term we will survey staff and students again to gain feedback about the trial and determine what worked, what didn’t and what the preference is for Term 4.
If students have any questions or concerns about the new timetable they are advised to discuss it with their LM or House Leader.
