Year 8 Girls Soccer

The Year 8 girls had a fantastic day at Jack Eddy Oval on Tuesday 13th July. The girls played 3 games in a row and showed great determination, skill and team work throughout the whole day.

The girls moved around positions throughout the day and supported each other especially the ones who were goal keepers who included Maisy Byrne, Sienna Westblade, Chelsea Newton and Ava Brown.

Maisy Byrne and Madi Leary were the goal scorers on the day, they were supported by the Abbey Stobaus, Elle Costello, Evie Ritchie, Madeline Williams and Mackenzie Cumming in the midfield. The defenders who were Cora Wilson, Remee Christian and Sophiea Nikkelson worked hard all day to keep the ball out of the net. The attackers Chelsea Newton, Maddi Leary and Sienna Westblade helped keep the ball in the forward half even when they were not in possession.

The first game was against St. Augustine's the girls won 3-0, the second game the girls lost against Kyabram P-12 2-1. The third game the girls won 3-2 against Echuca college.

Congratulations to all of the girls on a great day.

Year 8 Boys Soccer

The Year 8 boys played three games for the day. The boys went into the day feeling really positive however had a bit of a reality check after losing the first game 7-1. After coach Adam Brady gave the boys a stern talking to, they responded really well. In the next game, Cody Walker was moved  from goal to centre back and it opened the game up and made for a much more free flowing game. An offside goal that was disallowed saw the boys go down 0-1. It wasn’t until the final game in which the boys all clicked and got a well earnt win.

Overall, it was a fantastic day and the boys had a great time and showed great sportsmanship all day.
