Update on our Students in Focus

As mentioned in our previous Newsletter, Cooper Bartlett and Zainab Binti Mohd Ghazali were identified by Northern Bay College as students who would benefit by The Challenge Mentorships. We now provide an update on this process for these students.

 

Cooper Bartlett – VCAL

  • Semester 1 has seen Cooper engage with a range of Building and Construction industry experiences. This has included:
    • Furthering his VET in Schools Certificate in Building and Construction beginning his 2nd Year.
    • Serving as Student Ambassador at the Geelong Industry Trade Training Centre Trade Expo
    • Commencing a weekly Structured Workplace Learning opportunity with Faggs Mitre 10
    • Exploring a Structured Workplace Learning opportunity with Jacaranda Industries creating a possibility of transitioning into a Joinery apprenticeship upon completion of his Year 12 studies this year.

Zainab Binti Mohd Ghazali – VCE

  • Semester 1 has enabled Zainab to demonstrate her determination and growing confidence in her learning, maintaining strong results even with the challenges of remote learning
    • Currently studying the VCE subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Maths Methods, Psychology, English as an Additional Language
    • Engaging in VET in Schools course for Allied Health with weekly classes with the current focus on communication.
    • Currently trying to identify a suitable clinic/hospital/health facility for a 40 hour work placement commitment to complete.
    • Mentoring from a local endocrinologist Dr Natalie Harrison
    • Enjoying learning new things, especially in physics learning about galaxies
    • Participating in the Science Mathematics and Technology Club (SMT)
    • Recently we accepted into the Victoria University Guarantee Program, ensuring a place at university will be possible at the end of Year 12.
