Principals' Update

We’re Back!

Over the last two days, we have welcomed back our CNPS students, staff and families with welcome arms. The school has been so quiet for the past week and half and it is great to hear the sounds of happy children back at school. Our focus is to check in with the wellbeing of our CNPS community: students, staff and families, and get back to our normal teaching and learning programs. Thank you to all of the members of our school community for your ongoing support during these challenging times of remote learning and constant change. We are very proud of the resilience of each and every member of our school community.

Health and Safety Measures for Return to School

Thank you to everyone for observing health and safety measures such as wearing masks in the school grounds, practising social distancing and not entering the school buildings unless it is absolutely necessary. We understand that you may wish to communicate with your child’s classroom teacher so please consider sending an email or leaving a phone message. If it is absolutely necessary for you to enter the building, you must sign in with the Service Victoria QR code.

Rachel on Long Service Leave

Rachel was due to take long service leave from Wednesday 21 July to Tuesday 3 August as she planned to travel to Broome for some sunshine and relaxation. Unfortunately these plans were locked down, however, she has now taken the opportunity to take a short trip to regional Victoria. She will return back to school on Monday 2 August.

Parent Teacher Interviews Next Week

Parent Teacher Interviews are next week - Tuesday 3 August and Wednesday 4 August. These interviews can now be booked through Compass. To book an interview please click on the ‘Book Parent Student Teacher Conference’ tab on your Compass homepage and follow the prompts.

These interviews will be conducted on Zoom and your child’s teacher will forward the Zoom Meeting Invitation prior to the Parent Teacher Interviews.

Parent Teacher Interviews for Specialists will be held on Tuesday 3 August. Please see the separate booking tab to book an interview time with any of the Specialist teachers.

Parent Teacher Interviews with Jacqui Woodard (12J) will be held on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 August. Please see the separate booking tab for these interviews.

An image of the Compass homepage is attached. If you have any issues booking an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact the Office or your child’s teacher.

Please note: If you participate in formalised Student Support Group Meetings (SSGs), these will be scheduled separately. All families participating in these meetings will be contacted directly. There is no need for you to book a Parent Teacher Interview as well.

Staff Professional Development

As our school’s Health and Safety Representative-in-training, Jacqui Woodard will be representing Carlton North Primary School at a professional development course focused on workplace Occupational Health and Safety next week. This is a compulsory course that all schools must attend to ensure compliance with Department of Education requirements.

Jacqui will be replaced all week by Dina Kambardis who knows the students and the school very well as she is a regular teacher at CNPS.

2022 Foundation Enrolments

A reminder to all of our CNPS families that we have sent out the first round of enrolment letters of offer for Foundation in 2022. If you have not yet completed an expression of interest form for your child to commence Foundation next year, please do so as soon as possible.

New Date for Trivia Night

We are pleased to let you know that a new date has been set for Friday 8 October. This is fantastic news as the Carlton North Primary School Trivia Night is always a much anticipated annual event. We will communicate further details shortly but be sure to lock this date into your diaries. We are also hopeful of having the capacity to sell more tickets!

Road Safety Reminder

An important reminder to all families to not double park in O’Grady Street at pick up and drop off times. Double parking obscures the vision of pedestrians, especially our students, along with creating dangerous situations for other road users. Also, families are not to park cars in the no-standing zones on O’Grady Street. Road safety is everyone’s concern so let’s all work together to ensure everybody remains safe whilst travelling to and from school.
