New Build Update

We are very happy to say that we were able to move into our 2 new Learning Centres last week.  Students in Year 3, Year 4, 5A and 5C moved into the new buildings while 6B and 6C relocated into existing portables located near Learning Centre 4.

Our new courtyard and climbing play equipment also opened which has given students new places to play at recess and lunch.  Our colouring room used by students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 has relocated from the gym to Learning Centre 3.  Our library will also relocate to Learning Centre 3 from its current location at a later date.

Work on the old junior playground at the front of the school continues and concrete was poured to create paths and place spaces this week.

Simultaneous Storytime

Last week students took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime event.  This is an event intended to build a sense of community on both a school and nationwide level, as well as inspire a lifelong love of reading.

On Wednesday 24th May at 11:00 am students met together across the school to watch and listen to the story The Speedy Sloth.  After the story students also joined in with follow up activities about the story in classrooms.

SRC and Winter Wonderland Free Dress Day

The SRC has made a great start to the year. We have been hard at work planning ways to clean up our school. We have decided to supply more buckets and tongs so more children can be more involved in the looks and wellbeing of our school grounds.

During playtime, students can collect rubbish out in the yard and place into their house-coloured buckets. After they show a teacher on duty, they will be handed a ticket. The tickets will earn house points back in the classroom. The house that has collected the most points by the end of the term will get a special prize of extra playtime to celebrate their efforts to keep the school clean.

To help keep our school yard clean, the SRC are organising a roster for each year level to do Emu Bobs weekly. Each class needs to go out for a quick clean up around the school, at least once during their allocated week.

The SRC team has also arranged a fundraiser it is a Winter Wonderland Day on June 14th. So you will be allowed to wear winter like clothes for the day. This day will raise money for the Peter Mac cancer foundation. Make sure to bring a gold coin donation to help raise money for researchers to discover cures for people with cancer.
