Anzac Day
Last Tuesday, our College Captains, Lilly and Sam, together with the College Captains from Kyabram P-12, delivered powerful and reflective speeches at the Kyabram Anzac Day Service.
The following are excerpts from Lilly and Sam's speeches.
This year, 2023, commemorates 50 years since Australia’s withdrawal from the Vietnam War. Today, on ANZAC Day, we observe the sacrifices that all servicemen and women have made, and the service they have given, to their country and its people, across all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations...........
In line with the ANZAC spirit and tradition, today we continue to honour all of our Australian and New Zealand service members who displayed great courage, endurance and mateship across all conflicts, regardless of the controversy surrounding them. We commemorate all the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force and associated personnel who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War - torch-bearers of the ANZAC tradition, that ignited in Gallipoli on this day 108 years ago.
Sam C.
As we are gathered today on this momentous occasion, we pause. While we remember the day, April 25th, 1915, when Australian and New Zealand soldiers arrived at Gallipoli Cove, we also acknowledge the deeper significance that this day has come to symbolise. A day that our Defence Forces' efforts to maintain peace, Australian communities' values, and all Australians - young and old - understand. We do not celebrate victory or glorify conflict; rather, we commemorate the human spirit, the ANZAC spirit, and are aware that it is this spirit that propels us forwards to a better future.
We are honoured and grateful to have the opportunity of coming together this morning in the Memorial Gardens to commemorate ANZAC Day.
We are also grateful to be part of the current generation, which values peace and comes together to remember, and values honouring the ANZACs and all those who have served or are serving today for their comradeship, fortitude, bravery, and sacrifice.
Lest we forget.
Lilly S.

The 2023 Student Leadership Team are very excited to announce the arrival of two additions to our college winter uniform.
We have been working together and designed a College scarf and beanie that will keep us nice and warm in the cold months approaching. Beanies can be worn outside while in the yard, but not in the classroom. Scarves can be worn inside and out, for extra warmth if needed.
Each item will be $15 and will be available to purchase at the College Office from Week 3 of this term.
Money raised from the sale of the scarf and beanie will be donated to Kyabram Vinnies for their Winter Appeal.
