New - Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week

Attention Indigenous Families 

On 26th May we remember the stolen generation on Sorry Day. 

At St Mary’s we will begin the day with a Paraliturgy in the Marian Centre at 9:15 am. All are welcome.

During the day the students will learn more about the significance of Sorry Day and learn more about the stolen generation.

I would like to include our families in voicing their opinion about Sorry Day. If your family would like to make a short video that shares how your family feels about Sorry Day or what you do on this day to reflect on the stolen generation. I will also make times for families to be recorded at school if this suits you better.

Reconciliation Week

This term we also have Reconciliation Week which begins on 27th May – 3rd June.

During this week we will celebrate the theme – Be A Voice for Generations.

I would love some of our families to send me a video of what Reconciliation Week means for your family.  I will also make myself available to video your family if this suits you better.

On Thursday 1 June our didgeridoo students will perform at the Reconciliation Week Mass at St Mary’s, Nathalia. Our FIRE Carriers will also be attending to represent St Mary’s.

On Friday 2nd June we will have a Reconciliation Week breakfast in the Marian Centre at 

8 am. All are welcome.

Acknowledgement of Country               

At St Mary’s Primary School Mooroopna we Acknowledge the Traditional people of this land. The Yorta Yorta Nation are the Traditional Custodians of this area and we remember their elders, past, present and future. We remember that the Aboriginal people of Australia will always be the  traditional owners of the land on which we gather today. We continue to grow through education and reconciliation to a better future for all Australians.
