Ride 2 school Day 2023

Our Ride2School Day on Friday 24th March was a great success with students, and many parents riding, scooting, skating, and walking to school.

Students participated in cycling activities on the courts, and collected stickers from Bicycle Network staff. They went into the draw to win prizes donated by Melbourne Bicycle Store Prahran, as well as $50 vouchers generously sponsored City of Stonnington.  Special thanks to parents Josh and Phillip for assisting Mr Cracknell with cycling activities on the courts.

Our Year 6 leaders did a fantastic job leading our Ride2School assembly and reminded us that not only is active travel good for your health, it’s good for the environment too! Riding, walking, scooting or skating to school means there are fewer cars on the road, which results in reduction in noise pollution, energy use and carbon emissions. They also helped out with calling the prize draw at lunchtime with a very attentive audience eager to hear their names called out! Thanks to our Year 6 Leaders Jem, Lulu, Kira, Rio and Charlie for helping out with Ride2School day.

Dr Cranky’s at our school - Thursday 23rd & 30th March, 8:30am and 3:30pm

Many students brought in their bikes for safety checks and quick repairs- including- having tyres pumped, chains oiled, handle bar grips changed over and other quick repairs. Others who needed new helmets or locks were able to take what they needed- all at no cost.

Some parents brought in bikes that were no longer required, which were then serviced and handed out to students that didn’t have a bike.

Dr. Cranky’s is sponsored by Stonnington Council to encourage more students to ride their bikes and conduct minor repairs as a way to empower kids to be more independent.
