School Philosophy

Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth, and well-being for all students. We strive to develop adaptability and resilience so students can become valued members of the local and global communities and be prepared for future life experiences.

From the Principal

Welcome back for Term Two!

Hopefully you all enjoyed a break from the routine of school and managed to have some family fun over the holidays.

The staff used our Curriculum Day on April 24 to work on our whole-school vision for how we teach Maths, as well as further work on School Wide Positive Behaviour, a program we will launch with the students and community later in the year. Both of these are elements of our Improvement Plan for this year, so to be able to have a day to focus on this was fantastic, especially when everyone was refreshed and ready to start a new term.

We had our cross country today and hope you were able to come along to cheer on students and join in the house spirit that comes with the day. Our school team for District Cross Country is formulated based on the results here at school and, similar to Athletics Day, students in Years Three to Six run in age groups rather than cohort groups. Thank you to Mr Liston for his work in making this event happen and for it being so enjoyable.

We have our Year Four students off to camp next week (Wednesday to Friday), and Mr Moore and I are off to the Riversdale Network Principal Conference (Thursday and Friday). The Book Fair also begins next week, on Thursday, with special opening hours to allow you to explore and purchase a range of books. Please keep an eye out for opening times on Compass. Thank you to our Library teachers, Mrs Syme and Mrs Todkill, for their organisation and work in putting this together for us.

We will also be celebrating Education Week soon, with the highlight being our Open Night on the May 17 from 6:00pm until 7:30 pm. This is a wonderful time to come along and see how classrooms are set up, with interactive activities highlighting Maths, English, Inquiry and Wellbeing on display in classrooms. Specialist classrooms will also be open to explore and there will be a special closing event to conclude the night.

Lost property is once again filling up fast. Please make sure that you have named all clothing items and check the cupboard when items are misplaced. We really would like to keep the amount of lost property at a manageable level this term which is only achievable if we all work together to reunite items with their owners.

Thank you

Till next time
